After trekking on mountains, the latest adventure would be to start skating on top of them at Jebel Jais’ brand-new ice skating rink.
The highest mountain in the UAE is featuring a synthetic skating rink, and it’s at 1,300 metres above sea level. People of ages over three can glide, twirl and, enjoy falling over a few times while taking in the views of the Hajar Mountains. It’s gets chilly even in the UAE, Jebel Jais can be ten degrees Celsius colder than the rest of the country. That’s cold in winter, visitors must come with suitable clothing.
Jebel Jais is also the home to the world’s longest zip line, Jebel Jais Zip Line, where people can travel at speeds of up to 150kmph. Those who still want the full experience but can’t stomach the height, there’s always the Olympic-sized ice rink at The Dubai Mall, which now has “IceBykes” so people don’t slip and slide too much.
At 1300 meters above sea level, the Jebel Jais skating rink is a thrilling new experience to complement winter festivities and holidays. Skating on this skating rink, surrounded by the spectacular Hajar mountains, gives the perfect winter experience.
Those who are planning on taking a trip there, there’s a shuttle service that runs a coach up the mountain three times a day for just Dhs20.
The skating rink is open from 10:00 to 17:00 every Wednesday to Sunday, with tickets priced at Dhs45 (skate rental included) for a 30 minute session.
