New DSS attraction to showcase kids-oriented products from creative businesses and small brands of online marketplace, Little Majlis.
In celebration of the 18th edition of Dubai Summer Surprises (DSS), the Dubai Festivals and Retail Establishment (DFRE), an agency of the Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing (DTCM), has prepared another exceptional and family-oriented attraction. Open for all residents and visitors from all over the world in the form of the ‘Kids Pop-up Summer Market’, opens on Thursday, 30 July at the Festival Square in Dubai Festival City Mall.
Continuing to run until 15 August, daily between 16:00 and 22:00, this exclusive Market is being organized in collaboration with ‘Little Majlis’ for the very first time, as part of Dubai Summer Surprises.
It features a child-friendly theme and an assortment of local and Gulf-based retailers from ‘Little Majlis’ – an online creative community and specialist marketplace for handmade, artisan and boutique products, including personalized gift items made in the UAE.
Little Majlis delivers a solid platform for independent home-grown brands from the region, while also contributing for collectors to get a chance to buy rare creative products in a single boutique-style marketplace location. Each shop in the Little Majlis market is independently stocked and managed by these small brands and 98% of the owners are women – empowering them to sell outside of the seasonal weekend markets and broaden their customer base.
Prepared mainly with children, the roster of retailers at the Kids Pop-up Summer Market offers family and children-oriented merchandize with goods from Little Majlis’ in-house collection.They also offer children’s clothing, toys, home ware items, décor, jewelry, accessories, bedroom and playroom furniture, craft kits and much more from other brands.
The list of participating retailers include 2birds, Babylu, B&D Art, Birds n Bees, Coral Tails, Harmony House Toys, Kuki, Les Bobos Chics, Lia & Mia, Little Muslimah, Lou Harvey UAE, Maddy & Eva, Marmarland, Mommy Patch, Nordic Fairyland, Omasi, Pebble, Personalised Prints, SandArt, Tents & Camels, The Corner Shop and TutuBug.
Organized by the Dubai Festivals and Retail Establishment (DFRE), an agency of the Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing (DTCM), DSS 2015 takes place until 5 September. The festival is conducted under the theme ‘45 Days of Summer’ and offers fantastic shopping, entertainment, leisure and winning opportunities for residents and visitors from around the world.
