The 
Dubai Mall’s Italian restaurant GIA has come up with the UAE’s first-ever Italian-Emirati fusion menu for a limited time. The team is set to feature a blend of classic Italian flavours with ‘nostalgic’ Emirati dishes.
Available only until Wednesday February 12, the special menu aims to ‘bring the best of both words under one roof’, and was created by GIA’s culinary team and Emirati chef, Faisal Mohammed Al Harmoodi.
Highlights from the menu include a samosa burrata, boasting a crunchy samosa with burrata, arrabiata sauce, along with tomato and pesto mint chutney. Diners will enjoy the Salona risotto, served with Salona mushroom risotto, slow-cooked lamb shank and Emirati favourite daqoos, a spicy tomato and garlic sauce. 
Biryani-lovers can try the rigatoni biryani that serves up rigatoni, grilled chicken breast, biryani sauce, green maabouj, daqoos, rgag, as well as pesto and mint chutney. Food lovers looking for a little more adventure can dig into the camel lasagna, with puffed lasagna layers filled with camel bolognese, Parmesan cheese and olive oil powder. Fusion desserts are also on the menu, including the asida cannoli, a homemade Italian pastry filled with the Arabic asida, saffron mascarpone sauce and topped with pistachio. There’s even a ‘secret box’ featuring a mysterious concoction of Italian and Emirati sweets.

The Dubai Mall, it boasts an outdoor terrace that offers views of The Dubai Fountain. The interiors are designed by company Hecker Guthrie and based on 1950s films and architecture. The space are light and airy, and set up for the convenience of guests. This traditional Italian trattoria and the central kitchen is encased in glass panels allowing diners glimpse the live pasta-making. The burrata salad is great with generous mound of creamy cheese resting on tangy tomatoes and rich basil pesto. Squid ink gnocchi is served with a sea of robust gorgonzola and it’s as visually appealing. It is delicious – fresh, flavourful and also authentic, with the black dumplings served with the rich sauce. The Angus beef tenderloin, with spinach two ways is very appetising.
Their 
restaurant offer lunch, dinner and breakfast on the weekends. Gia has vegetarian and gluten-free options upon request. With many options and large portions, the team has seen many come back to try the rest of their cuisines. Something even for a picky eater at the table with interesting choices. Their kids menu covers all of the basics to make him/her happy. It is a must to reserve a table, and the team welcomes private and corporate functions too!
