The whole world knows Harry Potter, and after an absence of 5 years from the UAE, we are delighted to bring you some of the Potter magic – with Potted Potter. Potted Potter, the unauthorised Harry Potter experience, hopes to wow audiences at The Theatre by QE2 as the show will take place on the iconic ship moored in Mina Rashid Port.
The show, which was first conceived to be performed in a London bookshop and then taken to the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in 2006, has been seen by more than one million people in theatres worldwide in the years since. It has enjoyed two runs over 30 weeks off-Broadway and five West End runs and has been touring in North America and Australasia. Moreover, the show is suitable for children over six. The family-friendly show features everyone’s favourite fantastical characters from the modern-day classic, including Hagrid, Hermione, Ron and Dumbledore, with the main protagonist unsurprisingly being the brave young wizard, Harry Potter.
The hilarious parody condenses all seven of the beloved Harry Potter books into a 70-minute performance that promises to reduce the audience into tears of laughter. The show is described as a “must-see for Potter addicts and a great introduction to the series for anyone who’s ever wondered what all the fuss is about”. Furthermore, a real-life game of Quidditch will feature. The show creators promise that the audience will be in fits of laughter as performers Scott Hoatson and Joseph Maudsley transform into an array of favourite Harry Potter characters with the help of costumes, props and a sprinkling of Hogwarts magic.
