9 December, 2015 Dubai: Liverpool Football Club’s International Academy has launched its much-awaited full-time coaching programme in the UAE with English College and GEMS First Point School. The Villa is becoming the first of the local schools to register for the scheme run by the British football giants.
Designed mainly to arrange for best opportunities for young players so they can learn to play ‘The Liverpool Way’. The youth coaching project in the UAE has been established in collaboration with PESCO, a Dubai-based sports and events management company. To begin with the programme will initially focus on schools in Dubai but will be ultimately expanded to train youngsters within a network of schools in the UAE.
Mr. Leslie Hamilton of The Private Office of HH Sheikh Butti Maktoum, owner of the English College, said: “We are committed to provide quality education through academic excellence and an all-round development that covers the diverse aspirations and interests of children. We are delighted to be a part of this project by Liverpool FC and see this more than a sporting programme, as one that would help mould our children into responsible citizens.”

I have been very impressed by the standards of coaching and commitment from the team.”
Coaches have been invited into Dubai all the way from Liverpool in the United Kingdom to instruct with the distinctive coaching method to youngsters between the ages of 7 and 15. These kids will be given a chance to advance their football skills and improve in the technical, tactical, physical and social aspects of the game through age-specific coaching sessions.
Speaking on the commencement of the coaching programme, Mr. Dan White, Head of Soccer Schools at Liverpool FC, said: “As the first initiative of its kind in this region of the world, we are delighted that our coaching programme has kicked off here in the UAE, a country that not only has many Liverpool fans but also one which is prioritising sports development. We aim to harness this huge interest in football across the UAE and provide youngsters with the opportunity to learn to play ‘The Liverpool Way’ through a holistic, all round approach to development. Not only will the players improve their game, they will also learn valuable life skills such as teamwork, confidence, motivation and communication.”
Mr. Nisal Mohammed, Programme Director from PESCO, said: “We have received a wonderful response to the Liverpool FC coaching programme from many quarters including schools, supporters and well-wishers, and are confident that our partnership with Liverpool FC, which is known for its commitment to maintaining the highest standards and developing innovative playing methods, will yield excellent results.”
The coaching programme in the UAE is the latest addition to Liverpool FC’s well-established network of International Academies around the world. In the UAE, the project is being managed by PESCO, which has opened a representative office on behalf of Liverpool FC in Dubai in Al Barsha.
