Koreans enjoy their chicken and beer a lot, they’ve come up with a word for it: chimaek (pronounced “chi-meck”). A combination of “chicken” and “maekju,” (Korean for beer), chimaek is said to be a lot more than just a word. It’s a way of life.
New Korean street food restaurant and bar opens in Dubai, Kimpo is now open at Conrad Dubai, Korean-style fried chicken can be paired with hops. An ideal combination, diners will be pleased to hear that a new Korean street food restaurant and bar has its setting in Dubai now.
Kimpo can be found at Conrad Dubai on Sheikh Zayed Road. Kimpo is being headed up by chef Sung Choul Lee who is a South-Korean native with more than 15 years experience, and offers an authentic chimaek experience. Very popular in Korea, the chef pairs fried chicken and hops.
Fried chicken aside, the menu features an array of East Asian specialties, each with a twist, including a bulgogi sloppy joe served with kimchi and a homemade barbecue sauce, an “east-meets-west” take on tacos served with slow-cooked minced meat, pickled onions, kimchi mayonnaise and lettuce, and a pizza topped with salmon, kimchi mayonnaise, yuzu jelly and sesame seeds.
“From K-pop and Korean-beauty to foodie experiences, Korean culture is booming in popularity all over the world, including Dubai. Kimpo will show the city the real Korean way of life – chicken and hops,” says chef Lee.
With its own private entrance, the brand-new restaurant is modern with street art, attractive neon signs, creative graffiti by Dubai-based graffiti artist Ramy Elzaghawy and a “Brooklyn-meets-Seoul” industrial vibe.
