One of the first contemporary arts institutions in Dubai, Jameel Arts Centre presents curated solo and group exhibitions, drawn both from the Art Jameel Collection and through regional and international collaborations.
The Jameel Arts Centre is a 10,000-square metre, three-storey, multi-disciplinary space designed by UK-based practice Serie Architects, with Dubai-based ibda design as consultant architects . The spacious building features seven beautiful gardens, designed by landscape architect Anouk Vogel, which reflect local and global desert biomes.
Located in Jaddaf Waterfront, the Jameel’s galleries are complemented by the Jameel Library, an open-access research centre dedicated to artists and cultural movements in the Gulf states and beyond. The Jameel also includes project and commissions spaces, a writer’s studio, a bookshop and espresso bar. The Jameel Arts Centre serves as a hub for educational and research initiatives for diverse audiences. Its wider programming embraces partnerships with local, regional and international artists, curators and organisations.
Learning is at the centre of Art Jameel’s initiatives and central to the organisation’s thinking and collaborations. Their approach is focused towards the arts as a prism for lifelong learning with programmes beginning at primary ages and continuing through to post-graduate level, plus community events open to all. The team engages and offers opportunities that are dedicated and adapted for children, students, educators and professionals, including creative workshops, talks, pilot projects and tailor-made resources.
Jameel Arts Centre aims to provide an inclusive and engaging environment for learning, and to contribute to the wider Art Jameel mandate – to nurture open and connected communities.
