Offering a combination of Old Dubai meeting authentic Italy at this hidden gem by the Creek. The charm of Old Dubai meets New Dubai’s skyscrapers at Al Bandar Rotana. Perched on the 18th floor, it’s a cosy Italian restaurant is stylish with a monochrome colour scheme with zig-zag printed floors, furnished with dark colour chairs, white tablecloths and chrome shelves stacked with interesting trinkets.
When the weather cools, their terrace gives stunning city views. Featuring both high bar stools and restaurant-style seating, guests can see across the Creek, through Old Dubai and right across to the Burj Khalifa and Downtown.
Inside the Gusto restaurant, the menu is presented on an old-school, free-standing black metal menu holder, lit with a lamp. The starters and main courses are changed on a fortnightly basis, depending on the ingredients available to Gusto’s chef. The dishes such as burrata and quinoa salad, mixed with some more unusual options are great. The veal crostini and baked Tomino cheese are both with ample portions. Slices of fresh bread is served as the base to the veal crostini, layered with generous carvings of flavour, cold-cut veal in a rich tuna and anchovy-based tomato sauce. For mains, diners can have the grilled sea bream that offers diners a see the open kitchen to watch the chefs at work. Freshly grilled fillets on cooked asparagus, and roasted tomatoes with baby potatoes are delicious. Diners can also try ravioli al plin, the freshly made pasta is stuffed with tender veal chunks, served with veal shank and a herb gremolata.
