The folly journey begins at the door, with a secret tunnel leading guests up a narrow staircase into the heart of the bustling restaurant. Exposed brick walls, teal banquettes and traditional dark wood tables and chairs create a classic, timeless feel.
The Kitchen Bar is the stylish eight-seater bar that overlooks the open kitchen, allowing diners to watch and chat to the chefs as they work, while enjoying a unique insight into the energetic, theatrical nature of a busy service. The Garden Terrace and Lounge is adjacent to the main restaurant, the spacious Outdoor Terrace & Lounge has its own bar with fantastic views and an intimate, secret-garden feel. The Rooftop is a level up from the main restaurant, with uninterrupted views of the Burj Al Arab and Arabian Gulf, folly’s rooftop is a destination in itself. There are many better places to sip on a cocktail and nibble on something delicious as the sun goes down.
Folly have also shared one of their weekly meal kits, your gourmet main course is accompanied by a focaccia kit. The bread box includes flour, two types of olive oil, fresh yeast, salt and precisely measured water. The main course goes through changes each week, but the olive oil and rosemary focaccia remains a constant feature. At just Dhs100 (plus a Dhs6 to Dhs 20 delivery fee), it’s a bargain price for a restaurant-quality dinner for two. Each kit serves with detailed instructions and a QR code, so you can watch chefs Nick Alvis and Scott Price prepare your chosen dish. Diners can get their order in by Tuesday each week for a Thursday delivery. This Thursday’s box will feature a roasted ribeye of beef with red cabbage and wholegrain mustard slaw. On July 9, foodies can have paprika-marinated salmon with a summer salad and sour cream. And July 16 will be poached and roasted breast of chicken with new potatoes and a thyme beurre blanc.
