The second leg of the FINA/NVC Diving World Series 2014 is going see the world’s best female and male divers from 13 countries, contending in four different categories of 3m springboard and 10m platform in both solo and synchronized diving. The line-up includes 11 current world champions and 8 Olympic gold medallists.
The world’s best divers have already started training in Dubai on Tuesday much ahead of the second leg of the FINA/NVC Diving World Series 2014, which is scheduled to start at the Hamdan Sports Complex this Thursday, Friday and Saturday.
The first leg of the six event series was organized in Beijing last weekend, and many divers started the first major competition of the year, an opportunity to assess new combinations in the synchronized events.
The women’s 10m platform field was opened up with Olympic champion Chen Ruolin electing to concentrate on the synchro event in this series. Fellow countrywoman Liu Huixia took advantage of Roulin’s absence in the individual event, taking the first gold of the series in Beijing over Pandelela Rinong Pamg of Malaysia, with Tonia Couch of Great Britain winning the bronze.
Sessions are from 10-12 noon and 5-7.30 pm each day at the Hamdan Sports Complex.
