Known as the Dubai Holding SkyRun, this exhausting and gruelling race is part of the Vertical World Circuit, an international race that is also held in London, New York, Paris, Manila, Sydney, Beijing, Shanghai, Osaka and Hong Kong.
Members can select to arrive as a team or individual runners. The races begin early in the morning and are completed by 10:00. All proceeds go to Al Jalila Foundation to support obesity research in the UAE. One can grab friends or colleagues and sign up so as to make a difference.
This is Dubai’s original vertical race that is open to amateur and professional runners from the UAE and the rest of the world. 2017 sees the 15th edition of the annual fundraising race, which is sponsored by Dubai Holding and organised by Talise Fitness in partnership with Jumeirah Emirates Towers. All proceeds from the race go to Al Jalila Foundation’s Obesity Research Fund, working towards education and treatment of obesity in the UAE.
The Dubai Holding SkyRun race is first of its kind in the UAE, with Dubai Holding supporting the event since the first race in 2003. This is organised by Talise Fitness, and in partnership with Jumeirah Emirates Towers, the event has become a firm favourite with athletes of all levels, raising funds for Al Jalila Foundation’s medical research programmes.
Al Jalila Foundation is Dubai Holding’s Strategic Wellness Partner, and the main charitable beneficiary of Dubai Holding SkyRun. A homegrown global charitable organisation, the Foundation was founded in 2013 by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the United Arab Emirates and Ruler of Dubai. It dedicates its efforts to nurturing a brand new generation of medical professionals through scholarships and grants, and to investing in an innovational research across regional health issues and challenges. One of the main health issues facing the UAE is the current obesity epidemic. 100% of proceeds raised from the Dubai Holding SkyRun go to the Foundation’s Obesity Research Fund. The Fund facilitates ground-breaking research into the condition, with the aim of aligning education and treatment for the UAE and beyond.
