One of Asia’s most popular rooftop bars, Ce La Vi, a “fusion of music, mixology and food”, is now open on top of the soaring 260-metre-tall Address Sky View in Downtown Dubai. The three-level Sky Bridge on floor 51, connecting the two towers, has long drawn comparisons to Singapore’s most-recognised building: Marina Bay Sands. The Singaporean export should arrive in Dubai on top of a building similar to Marina Bay Sands, where Ce La Vi Singapore can be found, which isn’t lost on the team behind the restaurant. Although the concept is very similar, the excitement and fun still depend on how the guests will spend the night with their friends and loveones.
CÉ LA VI Dubai soars 220 meters above sea level, making it one of the city’s highest rooftops offering a contemporary Asian restaurant, sky bar, club lounge and pool deck. Luxury lifestyle, entertainment and cuisine combine with exceptional Asian hospitality and glorious views of the magnificent Burj Khalifa. The popular bar is perched atop the 54th floor of the address. Skyview is a three-in-one lifestyle offering that seeks to bring together dining, drinks and music. It’s an ideal destination who seek entertainment, good food, and an amazing view of the Dubai skyline.
Inside, a dark palette of woods is lit by flame-hued neon lights in shades of red and orange but dimly lit to give an altogether sultry feel. The menu, now available via a scannable QR code, is executive chef Howard Ko’s playful interpretation of Asian flavours, heavily influenced by his Californian roots. Moreover, Seaweed Parker Rolls (AED 65) are a fun way to introduce chef Ko’s culinary style. Warm rolls served with spreads such as a tasty yuzu labneh, miso chickpea hummus and creamy salmon dip topped with salmon roe. On our visit, the starters, a gem lettuce salad (AED 78) and yellowfin tuna crudo (AED 110), are perfectly plated but served with too much dressing.
The mains are brilliant. A black truffle risotto (AED 145) is made with light sushi rice and topped with indulgent shavings of black truffle, served in a generous bowl that’s easily enough for two. At the same time, the Westholme Wagyu beef (AED 235) is cooked to perfection, with melt-in-the-mouth pieces served alongside crunchy broccolini, confit potatoes and a sauce japonaise. To finish the meal, a dark chocolate fondant (AED 65) oozes indulgently when cut into and is served with a deliberately divisive beetroot ice cream.
