Calling all the best runners from across the region, both amateur, and international ultra-running elite! Brace yourselves for the world’s longest desert ultramarathon series! The Al Marmoom Ultramarathon, presented by First Abu Dhabi Bank will be an event to look forward to since it is a test of physical endurance, courage, and determination.
It is a four-day 190km race across a mix of terrain, including hard sand tracks and dunes at the Expo 2020 Dubai Lake. This is also an opportunity for marathoners to see rare and migratory wildlife. The run will take place this coming February 12, in celebration of the UAE’s Golden Jubilee.
Participants will take the challenge of running through the tough desert terrain in the Al Marmoom Desert Conservation Reserve.
Eligibility and Categories
One category is the overall male and female 5O KM ULTRAMARATHON (to be completed in 10 hours) wherein joiners are over 18 years who accept the race rules and provide a medical certificate attesting to their medical fitness to participate in a race. The other is the overall male and female 5 KM DUNE RUN (to be completed in one hour and 30 minutes) wherein joiners must be 15 years old and above. Participants below 18 years of age, must obtain parent’s/guardian’s consent to enter.
Registration
50 KM run costs AED 450. 5 KM run costs AED 150. The Race Fee Includes Entry to Al Marmoom ultramarathon 50km, Technical and medical support, Timing chips and bibs, Hydration throughout the race, Refreshments, Salt tablets, Finisher race medal, and Prizes for the top 3 rankings (male & female), post-race presentation and awards, and official photos and video of the race. All successfully registered participants will receive their race pack on the event day during registration.
Safety Precautions
The UAE Ministry of Health & Prevention and Dubai Health Authority stipulated guidelines and protocols to be flollowed regarding the COVID-19 pandemic. Wearing masks (unless engaged in a sports activity), regular sanitation, and adherence to the two-meter social distancing rules will be strictly enforced.
Recognition
Prizes and trophies and prizes will be awarded for the top 3 rankings in each race category (male & female). Finisher medals will be given to all participants.
