The Mohammed Bin Rashid Library is an architectural example of a rich history of cultures and civilizations and is a distinctive cultural landmark in which education, culture, and tourism intertwine. The library has more than 4 million books and an exceptional collection of documents, references, articles, newspapers, publications, presentations, documentaries, and lectures. It is also known as the most important cultural centre in the region and is in the shape of an open book. According to an article, The library is a representation of Dubai’s cultural face and a forum that allows to electronically connect with renowned international libraries to exchange rare and valuable information. The library offers an integrated database that contains soft copies of its entire contents.
The Mohammad bin Rashid Library opened its magnificent doors to the public on June 16, 2022, justifying Dubai’s status as the heaven of engineering marvels. Its structure is a massive open book sitting on a traditional wooden stand. It is located in the Al Jaddaf area overlooking the scenic waters of Dubai creek, this sanctuary of book worms is spread over a whopping 54,000 square meters of land and can host a thousand visitors at a time. It is home to more than a million print and digital books, six million research articles, 73,000 music scores, 75,000 videos, nearly 13,000 articles, more than 5,000 historical print and digital journals and about 35,000 print and digital newspapers from around the world. It is truly a book lovers’ wonderland.
It is built at the cost of DH1 billion (USD272.3 million). The great library is seven storeys high and has nine specialized libraries, namely; the General Library, the Emirates library and one each for Young Adults, Children, Special Collections, Maps and Atlases, Media and Arts, Business and Periodicals. It also houses an amphitheatre that can accommodate over five hundred people at a time, a picturesque garden and a cafe spread over two floors. Another incredible feature of this mammoth structure is that the library will use Avant-grade technology and artificial intelligence, including automated storage and an electronic book retrieval system. It includes self-service kiosks, a book digitization laboratory, and smart robots to respond to visitors’ inquiries.

As the ruler of Dubai quoted in his tweet a day after the opening, he emphasized the importance of libraries and books in every children’s educational pursuits. “Yesterday, we opened the Mohammed bin Rashid Library. It is the most modern Arab library. Today, we ordered the distribution of three million books to thousands of schools in the Arab world supporting reading. The library’s message is Arab. It will have positive impacts that will reach the region, God willing,”
