Shaikh Hamdan Bin Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Dubai Crown Prince, Chairman of Dubai Executive Council and Chairman of Dubai Sports Council, yesterday approved the powerboat, Sky Dubai 1, to participate in the UIM Class 1 World Powerboat Championship, to take place in Sweden today.
The powerboat, previously called Fazza 1, has successfully taken part in all previous championships, starting from the championship hosted by Brazil where it finished runners-up.
Sky Dubai 1 has been named after the very successful BASE jumping team.
The idea behind a name along similar lines was shared by both the teams, aiming to promote the sport of BASE jumping, in which many people in the UAE have shown interest.
