Judges' panel selected for Dubai Quran competition |

The Dubai International Holy Quran Award (DIHQA) committee announced the judges’ panel for its 14th session beginning on Ramadan 8.
Ahmed Sager Al Suwaidi, head of the Competitions Unit, said, "The committee members have all long experience in judging international competitions. They are also licensed and accredited in the schools of the Holy Quran recitation."
Chairman of the DIHQA organising committee, Ibrahim Bu Melha, said the jury panel members come from Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Lebanon, Jordan and the US.
"Jury members must be fully aware of the 10 schools of Quran recitation. They should also be experienced in judging international competitions."
The jury panel will be briefed on the Award’s terms and conditions to be well prepared for the Dubai event which is the only Holy Quran award broadcast live on several satellite channels locally and internationally.
Sheikh Saud bin Abdulaziz Al Ghunaim is a member of the scientific panel for the Holy Quran in Saudi Arabia. He obtained a Bachelor’s degree from Imam Mohammed Ibn Saud Islamic University, is accredited in seven schools of Quran recitation, and has long experience in judging international competitions in Saudi Arabia.
Sheikh Saleh Ahmed Al Sheimi, from Egypt, obtained the higher degree in Quran recitation. He is also accredited in 10 schools of recitation. He is a member in the jury panel of the Holy Quran Publication in Al Azhar, and has long experience in judging international competitions in Egypt and Qatar.
Sheikh Bilal Yahya Barudi, from Lebanon, is Head of the Tripoli Readers of the Holy Quran. He obtained the higher degree in the schools of Quran recitation from Al Azhar University. He is also accredited in 10 schools of recitation. He is a member of the jury panel of the Holy Quran Competitions in Lebanon.
Sheikh Samih Ahmed Athamna is Director of Shariah Education and Quran Study centres in Jordan. He obtained several degrees, certificates and licences in the recitation of the Holy Quran. He participated in many international Quran competitions in Jordan, Brunei, Saudi Arabia, Malaysia, Libya and Iran.
Dr Sheikh Hasan Ahmed Abu Nar works as a preacher at the Islamic Centre-USA. He obtained a Ph.D in the explanation of the Holy Quran from the Sudan in 1996. He has participated as a judge in several Quran competitions in the US and Europe.
