Namco Bandai makes huge announcements at Level Up in Dubai
  12 May 2011

Namco Bandai held its annual, amazing, Level Up event in Dubai yesterday and tons of major announcements were made. Seriously, this news is easily E3 level. Not a bad idea really, considering it means everyone will be talking about all the Namco Bandai games now and they won't get lost in the shuffle in June.

Since there's tons of news to go over, let's start by looking at some of the console games we'll be seeing in 2011 and 2012. The big surprise was that Soul Calibur V (PS3, Xbox 360) is in development. We won't see it until 2012, but it'll be a console game and take place almost two decades after Soul Calibur IV. Also, for the first time Sophitia's son will appear as a fighter. Ridge Racer: Unbounded (PS3, Xbox 360) will also be out in 2012, though we'll probably see it before Soul Calibur V. Ridge Racer: Unbounded will be released worldwide in February, 2012.

Ace Combat: Assault Horizon (PS3, Xbox 360) was also shown off, and it'll be out in October, 2011 in both North America and Europe. Europe's getting a special edition of that, and both North Americans and Europeans get a soundtrack for preordering. Dark Souls (PS3, Xbox 360) will be coming out in North America in October, 2011 as well, and will also have preorder incentives. Other 2011 Namco Bandai console games include F1 2011 (PS3, Xbox 360) and Bodycount (PS3, Xbox 360). The 2012 lineup was rounded out with the PS3 release confirmation for Tales of Graces in North America and Europe.

A number of handheld games were announced as well. Tales of the Abyss 3D, which we all already knew about thanks to Nintendo Power, is of course coming to the 3DS this year. Namco Bandai is also working on an entry in the Ace Combat series for the 3DS. One lone PSP game even appeared at Level Up - Naruto Shippuden: Ultimate Ninja Impact.

Finally, Namco Bandai has a new Tekken movie coming out. It's an animated, CG film, along the lines of Final Fantasy: Advent Children, called Tekken: Blood Vengence. It wasn't mentioned if it will follow the storyline of any particular game or just the series in general. It could end up being good, since Cowboy Bebopā€˜s Dai Seto wrote the script.
