Environment 2007 will open tomorrow (Sunday 28th of January) in Abu Dhabi with more than 10,000 visitors expected to attend the region’s leading environmental exhibition and conference. Continued investments in environmental protection and the increasing industrial commitment to sustainable development are predicted to attract an audience of government and industry leaders to the event, being hosted at Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre from January 28-31, 2007.
Held under the patronage of H.H. Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE, the fourth annual environment exhibition and conference will focus on renewable energy in the region and other issues relating to air, energy, water and waste. The event is being organised by Reed Exhibitions, co-signers of a long-term agreement with the Abu Dhabi National Exhibitions Company (ADNEC), to bring prestigious events to Abu Dhabi.
Commenting on the exhibition, Simon Horgan, CEO, ADNEC said, “ADNEC is focussed on its commitment to bring the World’s best events to the Abu Dhabi and provide them with a platform to succeed. Reed Exhibitions’ Environment 2007 demonstrates this commitment and I look forward to a successful show.”
The UAE has continued its efforts towards environmental protection as the concept of sustainable development becomes recognised as fundamental to economic growth. According to the World Bank, the UAE will invest at least AED 168 billion over the next ten years in environmental and pollution control projects.
More than 350 companies will be exhibiting at the Environment 2007 exhibition, the last event to be held at the existing Exhibition Centre. Phase 1 of the brand new state-of-the-art AED 500 million Exhibition Centre, being constructed just a few yards from the existing site, will debut in February. Upon completion, the new Exhibition Centre will offer 55,000 square metres of fully interconnecting hall space, including a 3,168 square meter atrium and 18,000 square meters of U-shaped concourse – one of the World’s largest air-conditioned exhibition concourses.
“The new venue will usher in an era of change for the region’s exhibition industry. It is our aim for ADNEC to provide unequalled standards of quality, service and facilities to organisers, exhibitors and visitors from all corners of the world.” Horgan added.
Reed Exhibitions is the world’s largest organiser of exhibitions and conferences, organising more than 460 events in 38 countries. As part of the long-term agreement with ADNEC, Reed Exhibitions has invested in regional base in Abu Dhabi.
