Dubai latest photography techniques showcased at Dubai's PhotoWorld event
  3 May 2011

The latest developments in photography and digital imaging went on show at PhotoWorld-Dubai, the region's only exhibition for the professional and amateur photography sector. The three-day show was opened by His Excellency Khalid Bin Sulayem, Director General of the Tourism Department and is significantly larger than in previous years report the organisers, Channels Exhibitions.

"Photography is a rapidly growing business across region, with both professionals and imaging enthusiasts," says event manager Vicky Menezes. "We have significantly more exhibitors this year attending from around the world and we've already seen a 30% increase in visitor numbers on the first day."

A major attraction is the daily free draw, with cameras to be won, and the programme of free seminars running throughout the event, which opens from 11am to 8pm daily until Wednesday.

Speakers include the internationally renowned nature photographer Bjørn Rørslett from Norway, talking about image capture using invisible infra-red and ultra-violet light, Simon Camper from the UK explaining his approach to event photography, and Joan Sarro from Mitsubishi explaining the latest printing techniques.

Channels Exhibitions also confirmed that for the first time this year a national pavilion of German companies is exhibiting at PhotoWorld, alongside major distributors representing brands such as JVC, Sony and Canon (Broadcasting Solutions), and leading names from around the world showcasing the latest cameras, lighting and studio equipment, online storage and retrieval solutions, accessories and lab systems.

"PhotoWorld is one of the most exciting technology events staged in Dubai and is a great opportunity for everyone involved in photography and imaging, including businesses and individual photographers," adds Vicky Menezes. "It's the place to see new products, ideas and technology, and to meet experts from around the world first hand."
