The first Dubai Creek Challenge, featuring a full field of 104 golfers, is expected to unfold an absorbing battle for honours when the event gets under way at the Dubai Creek Golf and Yacht today with a 1pm shot gun start.
Sponsored by Seven Seas Shipchandlers, the tournament will be contested over a pair's betterball stableford format with a handicap allowance of just 50 per cent, making it more challenging than any other stableford competitions.
"It is great to add another event to the club's calendar, get everyone together for an afternoon on the fantastic Creek course and have a lovely evening on the terrace after play," said Dubai Creek Captain Joseph Andrade, who is organising the event with support from EPL FZCO and Auvest.
"I am really pleased with the overwhelming response to the tournament which is oversubscribed. I would to like to thank all those who signed up for the event which I am sure will produce a great contest."
The event is open to Dubai Creek members and their guests, Emirates Golf Federation members and visitors holding a valid handicap.
