Indian workers in Dubai to get food from Consulate
About 200 Indian
workers in Dubai, who have not been paid wages for the past three
months by their employer, will receive food and other emergency
assistance from the Indian Consulate.
Indian Consul General in Dubai, Yash
Kumar Sinha, met representatives of the workers, who were hired
by a contracting firm, on Thursday and offered them all necessary
assistance.
"The consulate decided to provide
food to the workers... For all the emergency needs also we will
render all the help," Sinha aid.
He said consulate officials are in touch
with the company's owner and have asked him to pay the money to
the workers at the earliest.
"The labourers informed the consulate
officials that the cheques issued to them by the company had bounced,"
Sinha was quoted as saying in the media.
He said the Indian Consulate Welfare
Committee will provide all help including medical assistance to
the workers. |
