Zenobia, a star-studded historical epic musical, does not only address Arab communities, but also other people across the globe, the show’s producers and cast stressed during a Press conference at Bustan Rotana yesterday.
Zenobia, the biggest production ever in Dubai, is written, composed and prepared for the theatre by legendary Lebanese composer Mansour Rahbani. It is produced under the patronage of Shaikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Chairman of the Dubai Executive Council.
Ahmed Al Hamadi, Representative of the Arab Media Group, said: “Dubai has always been searching for everything that is new and distinguished in quality. We found it important to let the construction and tourism development go side by side with some big cultural event. That is why we brought the art giants from the Al Rahbani family into Dubai. This art work is worth attending because it is a historical leap for art in the region. And I stress that it is not only for Arabs.”
Marwan Rahbani, Director, Composer and Producer, said, “The script is written in a original dramatic way. All the other components had to be prepared accordingly.”
“History repeats itself. We have to look into our past and history so that we'd be able to draw conclusions about the future. Zenobia is neither a documentary nor a political speech. It is a pure work of drama based on historical facts,” he added.
Oussama Rahbani, co-composer and producer of Zenobia, said, “The script, music, casting, set, choreography and costumes all contribute to the success of Zenobia.”
Antoine Kerbaje, playing Orleanos, the Roman Emperor, said, “Zenobia is not just for Arab audience, but for all communities. I'd say that women, Arab women in particular, should come and see this play and get inspired by this brave great woman leader.”
Zenobia depicts the life of a legendary Arab heroine whose longing for freedom led her to resist the Roman Empire. The Dubai Studio City will be opened with the Premiere of Zenobia on April 18. |
