  Sharjah Tatweer Forum unveils strategies and plans for 2007 at its Annual General Assembly meeting

  Sharjah Tatweer Forum (Tatweer), unveiled its plans and strategies for the year 2007 and highlighted the success it achieved in the past months, at its Annual General Assembly meeting held recently at the Millennium Hotel in Sharjah. The forum was formed under a decree issued by H.H. Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Ruler of Sharjah and Member of the UAE Supreme Council, for developing the skills and competencies of National youth in Sharjah; for building partnerships between the private and public sector; for encouraging entrepreneurship, innovation and excellence in business and administration; and for ensuring the emirate’s socio-economic growth.

During its first Annual General Assembly meeting, members discussed the different accomplishments of the forum during the past year which included setting up the forum, approving its work agenda and developing a marketing strategy. They also discussed the goals and results of projects and activities which were undertaken last year, and the goals and suggested mechanism for implementing future projects. Members also discussed opportunities that can be capitalised on in the future, to complement the goals of the forum.

Members also discussed the forum’s future plans for developing leadership and management skills of young talents by synergising government resources with private sector expertise and launching initiatives that facilitate the implementation of projects.

Additionally, the forum addressed next year’s work agenda which includes expanding Tatweer’s base of corporate partners and focusing on projects that support the competitive advantages of the emirate. Members also addressed the possibility of extending their support to projects as they could gain experience and be exposed to best practices and volunteer work. The work agenda also included plans to manage projects and measure effectiveness through the implementation of measurement tools.

Addressing the Tatweer General Assembly, Hussain Al Mahmoudi, Chairman, Sharjah Tatweer Forum said: “I would like to thank H.H. Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi for his visionary leadership and continued support towards the goals of the forum. For the Sharjah Tatweer Forum, the past year was marked by the successful launch of several new projects. We are proud of our accomplishments, particularly in the first round of the Tatweer Leadership Programme which we initiated this year with the objective of nurturing young talents to lead future business initiatives and to promote profitable linkages between private and public sector organisations to achieve sustainable development and economic growth of the emirate.”

“The weeks ahead will witness a comprehensive evaluation of Tatweer as an organisation and will focus on ways to improve its functional structure and activities. We will also aim to focus on key strategic events which further promote the role of the organisation and work to expand our base of corporate partners with the objective of better servicing and engaging with the corporate sector in Sharjah. The Forum will also focus on attracting a larger number of proficient and experienced members with different competencies to ensure sharing of best practices among all members,” added Al Mahmoudi.
