Dubai: A hovercraft service between Dubai and Ras Al Khaimah will be introduced by 2008, when a new project, Emirates Flag, is ready for occupation, a real estate developer said.
"We will introduce a fast marine commuter service between Dubai and Ras Al Khaimah that will include hovercraft so that people can reach the emirate without wasting time in the traffic," Faisal Ali Moosa, managing partner of High Rise Real Estate, developers of the Dh7 billion Emirates Flag project, said.
One of the amazing aspects of this project is that about 20 per cent of Emirates Flag is built on the sea and will be connected to the coast by a bridge.
The project also boasts a large man-made marina built to moor yachts and other boats.
"You will be able to drive your yacht to your office in the morning and watch the setting sun on your way back home," Hesham Al Gani, designer of the project, said.
"Commuting between Dubai and Ras Al Khaimah will not be a problem anymore, as Emirates Flag will provide its own fleet of high speed water jet taxis, which will provide an over-water connection for commuters travelling between Ras Al Khaimah and Dubai.
"This will be a fantastic service for people living in Dubai and working in Ras Al Khaimah and vice versa. It will reduce commuting time by over 50 per cent. You can forget about traffic jams now," he added. |
