Quality field for Dubai Golf Trophy |

It will be catch-up time for the amateur team taking part in this weekend's Dubai Golf Trophy.
The Ryder Cup-style tournament which is now in its eighth year pits the top 16 players from the UGA Order of Merit against the top 16 from the UAEPGA Order of Merit.
And with the score currently standing on 6-1 to the professionals, there's plenty of work to be done by what it being billed as one of the strongest amateur lineups to date.
Starting on June 2, the competition will consist of two series of "pairs" matches on day one at the Wadi Course at Emirates Golf Club, followed by a series of singles matches at Dubai Creek Golf and Yacht Club on Sunday.
Dave Wall, 2007 amateur team captain, has every reason to be confident this year, with a full strength team from which to choose.
"I am very proud to be the captain of the amateur team this year and I look forward to a great two days of competition," said Wall.
UGA Order of Merit winner Matthew Turner and recent Black Tee Challenge winner Joel Neale are the two 'form' players for the amateur team, but they are well supported by the likes of Dino Varkey, Miki Mirza, Alex Charawani, Steve Edgely and Vikram Judge. |
