The first Middle East Mind Sports Olympiad will is to be held in Dubai.
Mind Sports Worldwide, based in London, will be running a series of workshops to teach skills in several games of the mind. A competition will follow to test the abilities of young and old alike.
Can you memorise cards in order from a standard pack of playing cards? How many numbers can you memorise in order from a random set? The one who can produce the longest correct lists will be the Olympiad Memory Champion.
The other chosen games for this year include two chess championships for those who like a fast game, while Backgammon will assess the best use of the numbers in a role of the dice.
A creative thinking test has been prepared to challenge those who can think of unusual answers for simple questions. Those with the most amazing, but sensible, answers will win.
