Following its goal of global expansion, Dallas-based Rosewood Hotels & Resorts will manage the Rosewood Dubai, its first hotel in the United Arab Emirates. Dallas-based JMJ Hospitality and U.A.E.-based Daman Investments PSC are developers of the hotel, which is one of the first direct U.S. developments of its kind in the U.A.E.
In June 2006, Rosewood announced its intentions for global expansion of its portfolio. The Dubai hotel is slated for a late 2009 opening and will be housed within the Dubai International Finance Center.
The Rosewood Dubai will include 157 deluxe guest rooms, 36 suites and a royal suite as well as two fine-dining venues, a ballroom, a state-of-the-art business center and a Rosewood Spa with a rooftop pool and fitness center. The development will also include 55 Rosewood-branded and managed residences, which will be released for sale later this year.
Based on positive experienced in Riyadh with its award-winning Al Faisaliah Hotel (pictured)--which opened in 2006--along with Rosewood Corniche which opens this summer in Jeddah, Dubai is a natural next step in further establishing Rosewood’s brand throughout the Middle East region, the company said. The location of Rosewood Dubai within Dubai International Financial Centre also follows the firm’s strategy of establishing its hotels and resorts in key business and leisure destinations.
Internationally, Rosewood is building on the success of Las Ventanas al Paraíso, A Rosewood Resort in Los Cabos, Mexico, with another partnership with JMJ--the Rosewood Mayakoba, which is scheduled to open later this year in Riviera Maya, Mexico. Construction started in November 2003 for the luxury resort and residential project along Mexico’s Riviera Maya between Cancun and Playa del Carmen. JMJ partnered with OHL of Spain and the project will be managed by Rosewood Hotels and Resorts. The resort will feature 120 suites, a spa perched on its own island and a nearby Greg Norman-designed golf course.
Rosewood Hotels & Resorts manages properties worldwide including The Mansion on Turtle Creek and Hotel Crescent Court in Dallas; The Carlyle in New York; CordeValle in San Martin, Calif.; Inn of the Anasazi in Santa Fe, N.M.; Las Ventanas al Paraíso in Los Cabos, Mexico; Hotel Seiyo Ginza in Tokyo; and a trio of Caribbean properties--Little Dix Bay on Virgin Gorda, Caneel Bay on St. John and Jumby Bay on Antigua.
JMJ Hospitality, a subsidiary of Dallas based developer JMJ Holdings, has two decades of experience globally in the development of luxury resorts and master planned communities. |
