In support of World Diabetes Day, Dubai-based luxury hospitality group and member of Dubai Holding, Jumeirah, is helping to raise awareness of the illness that affects many people in the UAE.
The Group’s flagship hotel, the Burj Al Arab, has been illuminated blue to raise awareness of diabetes as part of a national and international campaign.
In addition, all of the Group’s restaurants in the UAE are now diabetic-friendly. Restaurants at Jumeirah hotels and resorts in Dubai, as well as the Group’s independent franchises, including the noodle house, now feature clearly-labelled diabetic options on their à la carte menus and at their buffets.
The global symbol for diabetes is the blue circle, originally developed in 2006 for a United Nations Resolution campaign on diabetes. The blue circle aims to support all existing efforts to raise awareness about diabetes.
On a similar note, Jumeirah’s restaurants have also successfully phased out any use of artificial trans-fat in their menus.
