The enormous increase in economic activity has created a massive gap on Dubai's recruitment front, as an estimated 882,000 additional workers and decision makers are needed to fill new posts before the year 2015.
With sustainability and stability being major themes of Dubai's economic development programme, there is an urgent need to develop a highly skilled manpower reserve, within the ranks of elite leaders, to provide continuity to the exceptional gains that the emirate has achieved.
It is in this light that Mohammad Bin Rashid Program for Leadership Development (MBRPLD) was established by His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai. Shaikh Mohammad conceptualised MBRPLD as an innovative leadership programme designed to develop future national leaders capable of promoting the sustainable development of Dubai. It offers a comprehensive programme that targets all levels of leadership and incorporates the most advanced international leadership concepts, fine tuned to satisfy the unique requirements of Dubai's political, cultural and business landscape.
"As in any other society, progress can only be achieved if the leaders themselves are committed and are fully equipped to meet the challenges of this enormous task," said Adel Al Sharid, CEO of MBRPLD. Four distinct development programmes have been tabled to cater to different groups:
Promising Leaders is a level of MBRPLD which targets UAE nationals between the ages of 22 and 25 and aims to establish an elite pool of future leaders responsible for the sustainability of the strategic initiatives of the Dubai Government.
Young Leaders focuses on university graduates between the ages of 28 and 34 who will be immersed in a leader preparation module, which will equip participants with essential skills and boost their expertise.
Government Leaders is designed to qualify future leaders of Dubai Government departments by creating a pool of talented individuals within all government agencies. This is a level of MBRPLD that targets UAE nationals above the age of 35.
DG Majlis focuses on the strategic challenges and opportunities of top-tier government officials, particularly issues related to decision making. |
