Dubai: und Ansar Allah, the radical Islamist group which fought a deadly battle with Hamas forces in Gaza last week, denied any link with Al-Qaeda, monitoring group SITE Intelligence reported on Monday.
Jund Ansar Allah -- Soldiers of the Partisans of God -- had been widely regarded as inspired by Osama bin Laden's global Al-Qaeda terror network.
But in a statement on its website, the group said: "We are not followers of Al-Qaeda" contrary to Hamas propaganda "that we are Al-Qaeda and apostate-branders," according to the SITE report.
Several Hamas policemen and the top two leaders of Jund Ansar Allah were among 24 people killed in Friday's clashes at a mosque in the southern Gaza city of Rafah.
In its statement, the radical Salafist group also denied having carried out any bombing within the Gaza Strip.
It threatened revenge against Hamas for the death of its leader
