England Lions thrashed by Pakistan A in Dubai
  February 23rd, 2010

England Lions collapsed to 96 all out as they were hammered by 83 runs by Pakistan A in the first one-day match in Dubai on Monday.

The Lions, who lost opener Craig Kieswetter to the senior side, were indebted to Ian Bell for sparing them from total humiliation.

The Test batsman scored an unbeaten 46, while Andrew Gale (17) and Steven Davies (21) also made double figures.

Earlier, spinner David Wainwright took 3-26 as Pakistan reached 179 all out.

Raza Hasan (3-16) and Abdur Rehman (4-25) were the men who did the damage for Pakistan A.

England Lions were 40-2 when Gale fell but it was then one-way traffic as Raza and Abdur ran through the card before Mohammad Hafeez claimed the final two wickets as no fewer than five players were dismissed without scoring.

Hazeez had earlier weighed in with 51 opening the innings for Pakistan A before becoming one of Wainwright's three victims.

Sajid Mahmood and Chris Woakes took two wickets apiece for the Lions but the day belonged to Pakistan A.
