Emirates NBD signs with Zayed University a MoU for Student “Sponsorship Program” |

Emirates NBD, the largest banking group in the Middle East in terms of assets has signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) for a student sponsorship Program with Zayed University.
The program aims at developing their career in the banking sector through providing them with scholarships and work opportunities upon their graduation.
The memorandum was signed by His Excellency Sheikh Nahayan Mabarak Al Nahayan Minister of Higher Education & Scientific Research, President of Zayed University, and H.E Ahmed Humaid Al Tayer, Chairman of Emirates NBD, during a signing ceremony held at the Zayed University’s Dubai campus and attended by high ranking officials of both institutions.
Commenting on the MOU His Excellency Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan stressed the importance of this cooperation between Zayed University and Emirates NBD group as it aims to provide training and employment opportunities for students of Zayed University in various banking sectors, which witnessed great development levels within the past few years.
He explained that Zayed University is keen on creating partnerships with community institutions and the business sector in the UAE, and in this regard, cooperation with the Emirates NBD Group enhances the students’ opportunities to join the banking sector and allows them to apply their skills and work according to the latest scientific methods and applications used by this group.
H.E Sheikh Nahyan pointed out that Zayed University is always eager to provide an appropriate working environment for its students, and that the signing of this MOU with will provide the students with such an environment and allow them to earn more experience and enhance their skills through practical training and introduce them to the different needs of the labour market in the banking sector.
Commenting on the MOU signing, HE Ahmed Humaid Al Tayer said
“Emirates NBD aims through this agreement at enhancing its cooperation with educational institutions in the UAE by sponsoring young Nationals and qualifying them in line with its efforts to support the economic development in the country. The Group embraces an ambitious Emiratization plan to invest in National talents by providing them with the qualifications necessary to lead the banking sector. This step comes as part of the Group’s Corporate Social Responsibility activities and commitment to support culture and education in the UAE Society”.
On his part Dr. Sulaiman Al Jassim Vice President of Zayed University said: “Zayed University is always keen on establishing relations with various institutions in different sectors in the UAE. He emphasized the importance of engaging students in the process of economic development, as it gives them an opportunity to interact with the business market and identify the various skills they need to enter the labour market in addition to gain practical experience through applying what they learned throughout college.
According to the MOU, Emirates NBD will offer a student “Sponsorship Program” to sponsor eligible students in Zayed University.
A number of students will receive monthly salaries throughout their academic study, as well as the opportunity to work for one month during the summer, where they will receive an extra allowance, in addition to all privileges enjoyed by the Group’s employees.
The students will also go through field training that is consolidated with their curriculum, in all departments and branches of the Group.
Further, they will have the opportunity to conduct applied scientific projects as part of their graduation projects, as well as other opportunities that refine their talents and enhance their efficiency for competitiveness upon their graduation.
Emirates NBD will also provide the students with guaranteed work opportunities with the Group’s companies after their graduation.
The Agreement comes in wake of another similar agreement signed recently by Emirates NBD and the Higher Colleges of Technology. |
