The number of registered companies has exceeded 100,000 in Dubai, an emirate with a population of 1.3 million, according to the Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DCCI).
This means Dubai has a company for every 13 persons living here, one of the highest ratios of companies per inhabitant.
These statistics are presented in the 19th edition of DCCI's Dubai Commercial Directory 2007-08.
"The number of companies listed in this new directory has increased by 12,000 from last year," Nuha Mohammad Safar, director of DCCI's Marketing and Communication Department, said in a statement.
She said the new directory reflects the remarkable increase in the number of Chamber members which now exceeds 100,000.
The new directory provides detailed information about more than 75,000 companies.
