  Dubai : Pamboorians Celebrate Nativity Feast

  Dubai, Sep 16: Pamboor Welfare Association, UAE, celebrated Nativity Feast "Monthi Fest" in a traditional way together as one family at Winny's Restaurant, Karama, Dubai on Sunday, 13th September from 8.00 PM onwards. The celebration started with prayer session led by Kishore Noronha and Janet D’Almeida. Little children and teenagers took a short procession carrying the statue of Mother Mary with colorful flowers singing the traditional hymn‘’Sokkad Sangata Melyam’’ and gathered around the Bambino. After the novena prayer, children joyfully showered flower petals on Mother Mary as the gathering sang the hymn ‘Moriyek Hogolshiyam”. ‘’Novem’’ with milk was served to all and sweets/gifts were distributed to all children.

PWA President Daniel Saldanha welcomed the gathering and gave a brief message on the significance of this Feast and importance of Mother Mary in our life.

Walter Nandalike, Editor in Chief of Daijiworld.com, Dayan D’Souza, Founder President of Daiji Dubai and Daiji Rang Mandir and Mickey Castelino, founder president of Emirates Pangalites were also present on the occasion.

Dayan D’Souza stressed the importance of the media in today’s world and gave a brief introduction of newly launched “Daijiworld weekly” earlier this year.

The evening was filled with lot of entertainment as the crowd was divided into four groups and varieties of games were conducted. Scintillating filmy dance by little master Reeve Menezes attracted the audience. Talented singers Ashok, Sharon Rego & Diany presented some of the best entertaining and melodious Konkani numbers. Well-known musician and keyboard player James Fernandes provided the background music.

A traditional vegetarian meal "Novem Jevan" was prepared by Winny's Restaurant served on "shiratyo" (planton leaves) and was enjoyed by the gathering of around 125 people.

The programme was concluded by distribution of prizes and vote of thanks by Ashok Menezes. Agnel Prakash took charge of the evening and kept the gathering alive with fun-filled games.
