Dubai Media Corporation announces new TV channel |

Dubai Media Corporation (DMC) on Friday announced plans to launch a new satellite TV channel called Dubai Magharebia for the Arab Maghreb countries.
DMC said that it has completed all technical and administrative preparations to launch the channel which targets viewers in Algeria, Tunisia, Libya, Morocco and Mauritania. The new channel will broadcast via the Hotbird satellite.
The decision to launch Dubai Magharebia stems from DMC's keenness to provide end-to-end media services to all people of the Arab world. The new channel will help eliminate time differences between the UAE and the Maghreb countries and enable viewers there to enjoy Dubai TV programmes according to their respective local times, Hassan Ali Lootah, MDC chief executive officer, said.
He added that a media and marketing campaign will be organised ahead of the TV channel's official launching, scheduled for next month.
The next stage will focus on producing programmes carefully selected to cater for Maghreb viewers' tastes. Over 60 million viewers will be able to watch a top quality Arab TV channel which will carry various exclusive programmes,' Lootah noted.
Ali Khalifa Al Rumaithi, director of Dubai TV said that the New Dubai Magharebia's programme list will include hit Arabic soap operas and films, featuring leading Arab cinema and TV stars, plus documentaries, news, current affairs and entertainment.
He revealed that a special team has been formed to select The channel's programmes which will be produced by DUI TV's key partners.
Al Rumaithi added that some programmes will be tailored to connect more than 10 million Maghreb citizens living in Europe with their home countries.
"We are also planning to provide objective and unbiased new coverage by a network of correspondents distributed all over the world. Priority will be given to the news of the Arab Maghreb."
He said that Dubai Magharebia will be an effective engine for promoting UAE and its achievements.
Dubai TV is one of the first Arab satellite TV channels. It is seen as the pioneer of Arab and GCC drama and social programmes. |
