Dubai Industrial City to build mammoth warehouse facility |

Officials from Dubai Industrial City (DIC) say they will invest Dh2.2 billion in the highest concentration of warehouses in the UAE.
Stretching over 22 million square feet, construction of the warehouses will take place in three phases. With a built-up area of six million square feet, the first phase will be ready by mid 2008.
The second phase of seven million square feet will be completed by the end of 2008. The 11 million square foot third phase will be ready for leasing by mid-2009.
Strategically located and distributed along Dubai Industrial City's six zones, the warehouses will combine clients' specific demands with the highest logistical and safety requirements. The storage facilities will be available for lease by Dubai Industrial City clients and external customers.
Khalid Al Malik, senior vice-president of Industry and Knowledge at Tatweer, the parent entity of the Industrial City, said: "In order to meet the regional high demand, Dubai Industrial City will construct a monthly average of 400,000 square feet of warehouse space. These will provide a definite competitive edge to Dubai Industrial City and will deliver on our promise to create a self contained industrial township with all the vital components of the manufacturing cycle."
Designed for varying logistical purposes, the pre-cast warehouses will offer storage capacities of up to 10,000 square feet, and clearance heights of eight metres. Fitted with high fire ratings and superior security systems, the warehouses will be equipped with sufficient facilities for flexible loading activities.
"Warehousing is vital to the manufacturing sector for the storage of finished goods and distribution purposes. Dubai Industrial City has identified the need to offer clients integrated solutions to allow on time deliveries, short response time and the presence of strategic stocks," he added. |
