Dubai-based property investment firm Emirates International Holdings (EIH) has hired a bank to study the possibility for a listing as part of its overall restructuring, its chief said.

The company, 36-percent owned by Dubai investment group Emirates Investments Group, also said it was seeking to grow its portfolio of residential, commercial and hospitality properties outside of the United Arab Emirates, where about 60 percent of its assets are currently located. EIH Managing Director Reza Jafar, who is also vice-chairman of Emirates Investments Group, said the group had yet to decide whether to take the firm public.

Jafar, in Singapore for a conference, also said the firm had not decided where the proposed listing would take place. At least two banking sources told Reuters that EIH had hired Singapore’s UOB Kay Hian to look into an initial public offering (IPO) in the city-state but Jafar declined to comment.

EIH and Australian developer Sunland Group have formed a joint venture Emirates Sunland Group to a joint venture that is building swanky resorts around the world under the Italian fashion brand Versace.
