As part of its endeavors to tap promising markets and strengthen its status, the Dubai Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing (DTCM) is conducting Dubai Road Shows in five Far East cities from May 21 to 30 with the support of 24 co-participants, including Dubai Shopping Festival (DSF) and Dubai Summer Surprises (DSS).

The DTCM Director General, Mr. Khalid A bin Sulayem, said the Far East has remained a promising market for Dubai’s tourism and trade and the road shows would help us make further inroads. The department has been maintaining a representation office for the Far East in Hong Kong and studying opening an office in China soon, he said.

Mr. bin Sulayem said Dubai can look forward to substantial increase in visitors from the Far East region in the coming years due to the aggressive marketing and promotional drive the department has been conducting.

The Dubai Road Show kicked off in Singapore on May 21. The second leg of the series will be held in Kuala Lumpur on May 23 followed by Bangkok on May 25, Hong Kong on May 28 and the Chinese city of Guangzhou on May 30.

This is the first time the department has organized a road shows series of this scale in this region.

The Dubai delegation, comprising of 15 tour operators, six hoteliers, Dubai Department of Civil Aviation, Emirates Airlines, and DSS-DSF, will be able to do networking and business exchanges with the Far Eastern travel trade industry players.

More than 800 representatives of travel industry are expected to attend these road shows which feature presentations, a mini exhibition and an international buffet and a raffle draw.

Mr. Saleh Al Geziry, DTCM Deputy Director Overseas Promotions, said participants in each of the five cities will have a chance to win a holiday trip to Dubai, generously supported by the co-sponsors, Bavaria Executive Suites, Emirates Airline, and Royal Arabian Tours.
