Dubai Internet City has founded the Dubai IT Association with its partners in the emirate in an effort to develop the IT industry in Dubai. The association has been founded in conjunction with a host of vendors including Intel, HP, Nokia and Sun Microsystems.
Rekha Satpal, partner relations manager at Dubai Internet City, said: “The aim of the IT Association is to develop the IT industry in Dubai. With our customers being leaders in the industry, we thought that if we work with them surely we can develop specific IT industries."
The association hopes to further the development of each area of the IT industry individually, with a varied range of IT vendors all contributing to the cause. “We will have several associations under the IT Association umbrella, addressing each different area of the IT industry, be it software development, network security, hardware solutions and so on,” added Satpal.
The Dubai IT Association is set to have its first official meeting following this announcement in order to establish a structure and determine which companies to target as potential members. Satpal asserts that the resellers in Dubai in particular will benefit from the founding of this association.
“All of these companies who are founder members, such as Intel, HP and Sun are all leaders in the market and supply to resellers in Dubai. One of the points that we will be focusing on is the needs of resellers. The idea is to do anything possible to develop the IT industry. We want to put all our brains together to see how we can develop this entire industry in Dubai.” |
