DUBAI — The Nature Surprises Week, organised by Dubai Police, opened at the Mall of the Emirates yesterday. And the glitzy ceremony has set the ball rolling for a-week long celebration of the gifts of mother Nature.
The ceremony, which began at the Galleria, entailed an entertaining extravaganza for everyone to enjoy. Nature has been chosen as the theme for one of 10 weeks of Dubai Summer Surprises. And this, for the first time ever since the inception of the summer fiesta in 1998.
The inaugural ceremony was opened by Shaikh Saeed bin Nahyan bin Mubark and Lieutenant General Dhahi Khalfan Tamim, commander in chief of Dubai Police, in the presence of Saeed AL Nabodah, GIO of DSSF, and Mohammed bin Diyaln , Director of Nature Surprises activites.
The event was marked by a lively performance including a unique show by an Italian troupe of dancers and presenters, an underwater acrobatic show in a two-metre water tank plus an Italian opera performance. The special show was themed the Palm of Life and revolved around the four elements of nature - water, air, fire and earth.
The Italian troupe is best known for its scintillating performance at the Millennium Celebration in Rome. The troupe's performance in Dubai was an instant hit as the show regaled the audiences comprising both children and adults. The performance concluded with the sudden dropping of a huge poster with an exciting thank you message for HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai. |
