Second phase works of Burj Dubai okayed |

Dubai Municipality has issued permit to carry out the second phase construction of Burj Dubai along Sheikh Zayed Road at a cost of 3.5 billion Dirhams. This was stated by Khalid Mohammed Saleh, Director of Building Department at Dubai Municipality, who noted that the world's tallest tower would house a large hotel, residential apartments, offices, health club, and parking lots. He said the second phase works would involve construction of 32 stories from Floor 40 until Floor 72. The municipality had already issued the permit to build the first phase which involves the tower's foundation, works of the first 39 floors, a six-story office annexe and the health club.
The tower, with a total land area of 1.12 million square feet, will have 779 apartments, 403 hotel rooms, and 43 offices at an area of 522,695 square feet. The parking lots will have a capacity of 3292 cars.
