Emirates Post has issued a commemorative stamp to mark the fiftieth anniversary of the establishment of Dubai Police.

The new stamp, issued in coordination with Dubai Police, is available at all UAE post offices.

First Day Covers, priced at Dh2 ($0.544) each, are available at Deira Main Post Office, Dubai Central Post Office and Abu Dhabi Central Post Office.

'Dubai Police has played a crucial role in the development of the emirate by using advanced policing methods,' commented Abdulla Al Daboos, director general of Emirates Post.

Dubai Police was established on June 1, 1956, at Naif Castle, which is currently a police station.

In 1973, Dubai Police moved to its current headquarters. From the start, it was driven by its mission of becoming an ace anti-crime force that fights criminals and protects the rights and freedom of the people.

Dubai Police is one of the most modern Arab policing organisations made up of 15,000 highly educated and multi-skilled members. It is an integral part of the UAE Police that is headed by General Shaikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister of UAE and Ruler of Dubai.

Dubai Police was the first Arab police force to apply the DNA system in criminal investigation.

It was the first Arab police to use the Electronic Fingerprint. It was also the first in the Arab world to practice e-Government.

Dubai Police was ahead of advanced countries in the use of Patrol Tracking System using LORAN-C.-TradeArabia News Service.
