Inquiries flooded in about facilities and incentives offered by Dubai Internet City at the recently concluded CommunicAsia technology exhibition held in Singapore from 20-23, June 2006. DIC showcased its business incentives and business support services at its stand at the exhibition.
The Dubai Internet City stand received several dignitaries including Omar Al Kurdi, Jordanian Minister for Information and Communications Technology and Touch Heng, Under-Secretary of State, Cambodia. They were received by Majed Al Suwaidi, Director of Sales, Dubai Internet City and Saeed Ghubash, Regional Sales Manager, who briefed them on the concept of Dubai Internet City.
Jamal Abdulsalam, Executive Director, Dubai Internet City said: 'The CommunicAsia exhibition provided a platform for DIC to reach out to the Far East market, which has some of the fastest growing economies of the world today.
'We received interest from East Asian companies across major ICT industry segments, particularly companies specialising in telecommunications. Over 30 companies showed firm interest in relocating some of their operations to DIC.'
He said that firststeps@DIC, a facility that allows companies to lease short-term office space evoked tremendous interest from Asian companies as they saw it as a stepping stone towards having bigger operations in the Middle East.
Abdulsalam said potential investors were very impressed with DIC's business incentives that include 100% exemption from taxes, 100% repatriation of capital and profits, no currency restrictions, easy registration and licensing, stringent cyber regulations and protection of intellectual property rights.
DIC's parent company TECOM Investments recently opened a new office in Shenzhen in China. The new office will provide easier access for DIC-based companies to the ICT market in East Asia, offering new opportunities for partnerships and business development. |
