Dubai Sports City (DSC) is expected to be delivered on time in the next three and a half years, U Balasubramaniam, CEO of Dubai Sports City told 7DAYS yesterday.
Sports City“Some parts of the Dubai Sports City project will be delivered as early as January 2008 but the project as a whole will be completed by 2010,” Balasubramaniam told 7DAYS.
He was speaking after the launch of Canal Residence West, a Riviera style residence in DSC.
The DSC project which is the world’s first integrated purpose-built sports city has seen investments by developers from Europe, Germany and France in particular.
Bureau Veritas, a third party Quality Health and Safety Environment service, will assess the project in Canal Residence West. This is expected to raise the standards from design to delivery of the buildings in the DSC area.
The DSC project is one of the main facets of Dubailand and will cover at total of 50 million square feet.
DSC itself is only developing about ten of the commercial and residential projects at the DSC.
It will have a 60,000 capacity multipurpose outdoor stadium, a 10,000 seat indoor arena and a 5,000 feet hockey stadium among other fixture venues.
DSC has said the stadia will be relatively traffic free even at peak times due to individual access gates for residents.
The DSC has been working with the Road Transport Authority in Dubai to monitor monorail and traffic plans that will affect the sports city.
Balasubramaniam said that the DSC would have two dedicated interchanges off of Emirates Road in order to speed the ease of access to the sports facilities even at match times.
Balasubramaniam said that the DSC Cricket stadium is currently being built and that almost six holes of the golf course at the city had been completed.
