Dubai stands out as perfect 'MICE' destination |

The Dubai Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing (DTCM) has intensified its participation at IMEX 2006, the leading trade fair for meetings, conferences, events and incentives in Frankfurt, Germany.
The DTCM has put up one of the largest stands at the fair measuring 351 sq. mts with a total of 46 co-participants sharing 36 booths. .
Commenting on the opening of the IMEX, Khalifa Ali K. Buamaim, DTCM Manager Overseas Promotions, said:
'This is the fourth year of our attendance at the IMEX, reflecting the growing importance of the MICE market for Dubai as well as the significance of the fair itself. The IMEX is not only a good place to tap the German market, but also a good place to meet and make business with hosted buyers and visitors from all over the world.'
The IMEX opened doors with the participation of 3,300 exhibitors from 150 countries, and spanning 16,500 square metre of floor space. No fewer than 3,400 hosted buyers and several thousand trade visitors from Germany and worldwide are expected to attend the show.
Sunshine year-round, pristine sand beaches, a unique mix of high-tech and oriental flair, and, in addition to prime conference and convention facilities: These features successfully contribute to Dubai standing out as a perfect MICE destination in the international business travel market.
Presently, Dubai has convention facilities of collectively 130,000 sq mts, offering space for more than 100,000 MICE guests. By 2008 the Dubai Convention Bureau is aiming at an additional 600,000 overnight stays by MICE visitors.
The Dubai Convention and Exhibition Centre with a exhibition capacity of 42,000 square meters or the Airport Expo Dubai with a total floor space of more than 33,000 square meters as well as eighty 4- and 5-star-hotels with more than 400 meeting rooms complete the outstanding exhibition and convention venues offered in Dubai.
A variety of leisure activities and a wide range of sporting facilities - including skiing - make Dubai a MICE paradise.
Germany is one of the key source markets for Dubai with the total number of German hotel guests to Dubai standing at more than 260,000 arrivals.
