  DUBAI — Grandmaster Taleb Moussa and Fide Master Salem A.R. Saleh of UAE hogged the limelight when they drew their games against Tigran Petrosian of Armenia and Srdjan Sale of Croatia in the fourth round of Dubai Open Chess Championship at Dubai Chess and Culture Club. The UAE had a mixed day in the fourth round.


Ibrahim Al Bannai, chairman of Dubai Chess Club, said, "We appreciate the professional approach of invited Grandmasters and the young talents have made a brilliant start."

Talented juniors proved their mettle in a day of upsets as many as three seeded masters were upstaged by Sai Srinivas of India, So Wesley of Philipines and Atousa Pourkashiyan. So Wesley defeated El Taher Fouad of Egypt, while Srinivas defeated highly rated Babayev Rashed of Azerbaijan. Atousa did one step better by defeating Grandmaster Neverov Valeri of Ukraine.

Among the UAE players Taleb tops the table with three points while Salem A.R. Saleh, FM Jasim A.R. Saleh and FM Abdul Majeed are half a point behind the leader. FM Othman Moussa is in the third spot with two points.

Grandmasters Miroshnichenko Evgenij of Ukraine and Kacheishvili Giorgi of Georgia are at the top of the table with four points after the fourth round of the championship. Grandmasters Izoria Zviad of Georgia, Fedorchuk Sergey A of Ukraine, Sadvakasov Darmen of Kazakhstan, Sargissian Gabriel of Armenia, Gelashvili Tamaz of Georgia, Ghaem Maghami Ehsan of Iran, IM Abbasov Farid of Azerbaijan and FM So Wesley of Philippines shared the second spot with 3.5 points
