DUBAI - Regulatory authorities in the UAE should be encouraged to develop further controls on curative and cosmetic treatments for skin disease, said participants at the Dubai World Dermatology conference while presenting their recommendations on the concluding day.
The conference concluded its activities for the fifth session, over three days, in which eight recommendations were finalised by the participants.
Among the other recommendations, they said there was an imperative need to develop effective educational programmes to increase the awareness of the community regarding cosmetic procedures and laser treatments that should be conducted only at specialised dermatological clinics and under the supervision of specialised doctors.
They also said that organisations which can offer extensive training programmes should also be encouraged so that the participants in workshops benefit from the latest medical technologies and developments
The conference and workshops were attended by over 600 participants representing doctors and specialists in Dermatology, Cosmetology and Laser Treatment from USA, UK, Germany, France, Australia, Brazil, Italy, Canada, Iran, Philippines and KSA.
