Saleh wins Al Ain blitz tournament |

DUBAI — FM Salem A.R. Saleh has won the Al Ain Amateur Blitz Tournament with 6.5 points. Ibrahim Mohammed Khouri, Ahmed Abbas Khouri, Marwan Abdul Wahab, Mansour Abbas and Khalil Ibrahim were tied at the second spot with 5.5 points.
In the classic games, GM Elshan Ghaem Maghami defeated IM Hassaan Abdullah 3-1. Ahmed Adly beat Jasim A.R. Saleh 4-0, while Amin Bassem defeated IM El Taher Fouad 3-1.
Around 50 players from different clubs of the UAE participated in the amateur chess tournament.
Fide President Kirsan Illyzhminov thanked Shaikh Sultan bin Khalifa Al Nahyan for the kind hospitality as well as Ibrahim Al Bannai, President of the UAE Chess Federation and Arab Chess Federation. He thanked for the kind patronage and the best facilities to conduct the board meeting.
Ibrahim Al Bannai said, "The development of chess in the UAE is phenomenal."
Hisham Al Taher said, "The future is really bright for the development of chess in the UAE."
Hisham added, "The Al Ain Spring Chess Festival is underway and we foresee a good participation in the festival at the Al Ain Mall. We plan to conduct similar kind of festivals on a quarterly basis."
