ROGER Federer and Rafael Nadal, the top two players in the world, will clash for the first time since the French Open semi-finals in the Dubai Open final today.
Spain's Nadal, who won the Roland Garros clash in four sets before lifting his first grand slam crown, beat Rainer Schuettler of Germany 6-4, 6-2 after top seed Federer eased past Mikhail Youzhny of Russia 6-2 6-3.
Meanwhile, fifth seeded American James Blake eased into the quarter-finals of the Tennis Channel Open in Las Vegas with a 6-1, 6-1 second round victory over unseeded compatriot Brian Vahaly. After wasting little time seeing off the world No 164, Blake's path to the semi-finals was made slightly easier when his likely opponent in the last eight, second seed Nicolas Kiefer, withdrew from the tournament.
Amelie Mauresmo pummelled Martina Hingis 6-2, 6-2 yesterday to reach the Qatar Open final.
Mauresmo, who has already won three titles this year, will face Russian second seed Nadia Petrova in today's final.
