The Dubai Financial Market has conducted a series of workshops for college students from across the UAE to educate them about the details of participating in its upcoming online stock market game.
More than 500 students of higher colleges in the UAE have attended the workshops in February 2006 and more will attend in March. Presentations were made to students in batches of 20 to 50 about the finer points of participating in the online stock game and their questions were answered.
The UAE colleges that are participating in the workshops include Dubai Men's and Women's Colleges, Abu Dhabi Men's and Women's Colleges, American University of Dubai, Al Ain University, RAK Women's College and Zayed University.
According to Mr. Esssa Kazim, Director General, Dubai Financial Market: 'The student workshops are in line with the DFM's objective of introducing the market to potential and new investors, especially from the UAE. These workshops have generated a fair amount of interest and excitement about the online stock market game that we shall launch soon. We see these workshops as vital to creating an educated investor base from amongst the UAE's next generation.'
The DFM workshops were conducted by Mubarak Rashid, Stock Game General Coordinator at various campuses around the UAE. These included the Zayed University, Dubai Men's and Women's Colleges, Fujairah Men's and Women's Colleges, Abu Dhabi Women's College and the Emirates College for Management and Information Technology.
The presenters from DFM noted the feedback provided by the students and were impressed by their enthusiasm and high degree of awareness about the stock market and its workings. |
